Education: 

Lígia Sousa-Ferreira got her degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2006 at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Coimbra, Portugal.
In 2006, she got a FCT PhD Fellowship to develop her PhD research with the project entitled “Modulation of Neuropeptide Y in the adult hypothalamus and hypothalamic progenitor cells: Effects on feeding behavior and neuropeptides regulation”. This work was developed at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (Group of Vectors and Gene Therapy and Group of Neuroendocrinology and Aging), University of Coimbra, Portugal, and at the Viral Vector Laboratory at the University of Göttingen, Germany.
Lígia got her PhD degree in Pharmacology at Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Coimbra, in 2011.
Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher at Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology, University of Coimbra and was granted with a FCT Post-Doc fellowship to study the involvement of microRNAs in food intake and obesity.
