Sara Lopes carried out her studies at the University of Coimbra, where she obtained her Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmacy, in 2010. During the course, she joined the Neuroendocrinology and Aging group at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC), where she acquired a strong interest by the research field. After obtaining her master’s degree she was the recipient of a Research Fellowship at the Redox Biology and Brain Sensing Group (2010-2011) at the CNC, which provided her with a strong background and research skills in the neuroscience area. Since October 2011 she got enrolled in the Doctoral Programme in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine (BEB) at the CNC and she is now pursuing her PhD degree at the Vectors and Gene Therapy group at the same center.
Her current research interest relies on the development of new strategies that can endorse regenerative therapies in Machado-Joseph disease.
