Born in Funchal, got a first degree in Biology and a Masters in Cell Biology, Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Coimbra. She was a PhD student at the Botany Department of FCTUC and teaching assistant at the University of Aveiro. She also did research work at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UMass, Amherst, USA. Since 2002 is a Research Technician at CNC.
