Research topics: The neuroregenerative potential of neural stem cells (NSC) transplantation in neurodegenerative diseases such as Machado-Joseph disease (MJD). Molecular and cellular evaluation of the neuroregenerative effect mediated by NSC. The use of lentivirus for gene silencing in neurodegenerative diseases. Evaluation of the therapeutic effect at the motor coordination level in a mouse model of MJD.

Research topics: Development of lipid-based delivery systems for gene silencing tools (antisense ODN and siRNA) aiming at chronic myeloid leukemia treatment. Development of therapeutic systems allowing both cellular (to a specific cell surface receptor) and molecular (to a specific oncogene and/or oncoprotein) targeting. Molecular and cellular evaluation of the effects mediated by the developed formulations in vitro and in vivo.

Neurodegenerative diseases such as Machado-Joseph Disease. Neuroinflammation. The neuroregenerative and neuroprotective potential of human IPSC-derived NSC transplantation. Gene silencing strategies using lentivirus for disease modeling.
