Education:

I am a BSc in Apllied Biology and I have completed my degree in 2008 (pre-Bologna system), at University of Minho, Braga.
During my studies, I had the opportunity to develop several technical skills especially as an Erasmus student, doing my traineeship at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) – The Netherlands, under the supervision of Noel Miranda, PhD and Professor Hans Morreau, MD, PhD.
From 2009 to 2012 I have worked as a research trainee in two research projects at IPATIMUP, Porto, being supervised by Maria Paula Boaventura, PhD and Professor Paula Soares, PhD. Here I was also able to improve my technical skills in molecular/cellular biology, besides expanding my knowledge in Oncobiology.
Currently, I am PhD student (BEB-Doctoral Programme in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine) at Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology, Coimbra, since October 2012. I am being supervised by Professor Luis Pereira de Almeida and Professor Cláudia Cavadas, and my project is entitled “Is ageing the triggering factor in polyglutamine induced neurodegeneration? A study in Machado-Joseph disease models”.
