Adriana Marcelo has been developing research in the field of gene and cellular therapies and is presently a master student at Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology in University of Coimbra.
Adriana Marcelo did her graduation in Biomedical Sciences in University of Algarve. In the final year of graduation, she spent two months in the Gene Therapy Laboratory, Centre for Molecular and Structural Biomedicine, University of Algarve, developing fundamental laboratory skills and learning several techniques while doing her graduation dissertation entitled “Caracterização de um novo polímero híbrido” supervised by Dr. Gabriela Silva (PhD), which contributed to the article “Modification and characterization of hyaluronic acid: a new polymer for retinal gene delivery” accepted for publication in the journal “Material Science and Engineering C”.
In 2014 she started her Master in Biomedical Research of Faculty of Medicine, University of Coimbra. Currently she is doing her Master thesis in Vectors and Gene Therapy Group entitled “Systemic Transplantation of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells: a therapeutic strategy for Machado-Joseph Disease?” supervised by Dr. Catarina Miranda (PhD).
