ESCI 2019

“The Clocks of Metabolism and Disease” is the theme of this meeting, organized by Catarina Oliveira and Paulo Oliveira, CNC researchers. The 53rd ESCI Annual Meeting has the participation of renowned invited speakers, not only in the study of the biological clocks and organism association, but also in biomedical areas of great impact, such as cardiology, metabolism, immunology and ageing. For three days, participants will have the opportunity of taking part in symposia, technical courses, lectures, and poster sessions, among other social events, in the Hotels Vila Galé and D. Inês.

This is the second ESCI meeting in Portugal – after the 47th edition of this event, in Albufeira, in 2013. Founded in 1967, ESCI is a discussion forum between researchers and clinics around Europe. “This is an unique opportunity for clinics and scientists to get together and speak in a commoner language, promoting interactions that allow the more fundamental research to be more and more a clinical application branch”, refers Paulo Oliveira, organizer and Vice-President of ESCI. “In fact, there are not many meetings of this nature in Portugal, and now we are lucky to have the second ESCI meeting in our country, in Coimbra, a city with such a high tradition in biomedical research”, concludes.

The registration for the event is opened until the event, and may be done in the official website: The 1-day passes are available since yesterday, and have a more reduced cost until the 15th of May.
