O nosso cérebro é constituído por milhares de milhões de neurónios que comunicam em pontos de contacto designados por sinapses. As memórias, os pensamentos e o comportamento no geral estão codificados em alterações na intensidade de comunicação sináptica. O nosso grupo está interessado nos mecanismos celulares e moleculares da função sináptica e da plasticidade sináptica, e em como disfunção sináptica e dos circuitos neuronais está na base de doenças neuropsiquiátricas e neurodegenerativas.
